Google Israel (google.co.il) is not a separate search engine than the international Google engine. Still, there are several differences between Google Israel and the international Google:

• Interface language is Hebrew
• There are a number of services provided by international Google that are still unavailable on Google Israel. For example: Google news, and Froogle (Google's price comparing)
• The results returned from the Google Israel engine are supposed to be more focused for a Hebrew speaking user

Improved ranking on Google Israel

In order to improve the placement of a website on Google Israel, there are several factors to be considered:

Site Hosting: If your site is hosted on an Israeli server, this may serve as an advantage on Google Israel search results. However, it is important to know, that there are several Israeli hosting companies that host their sites abroad. It is the actual server location, and not to the company location that count.

Domain Registration: The "whois" information regarding a domain: this information defines the listed owner of the domain. Google has become a registered domain registrar in order to obtain this information directly. However, it seems that as of today, Google has no direct access to information about Israeli domains.

Domain Suffix: If your site has an ".il" suffix, it will have great advantage on Google Israel.

Site Language: If the site text is in Hebrew, a Hebrew font and meta-tag language is defined:

It is important to emphasize that the above mentioned parameters only improve your results, but they are not veto - meaning even a site with the ".com" suffix can still get high placement on Google Israel, but it's placement may have been higher if it had an ".il" suffix.
